Making
Aviation Sexy
(alternate title: Rejuvenating Aviation)
Target
Audience: Current industry (corporate events, aeronautical
universities & training academies, air shows, pilot groups) Details: Keynote, 60 minutes (flexible) plus Q&A Categories:
Career, leadership, state of the industry
Aviation
has lost its sex appeal. Today's airline experience
has given one of humanity's greatest achievements a very
unflattering face. Combined with uninspired flight training,
the result is a shrinking pilot population that will cripple
airlines and kill general aviation. If we don't act today,
there won't be a tomorrow.
With
inspiration, motivation, and humor, The Raviator shares
his story of climbing to the top of the music industry and
how it mirrors his journey in learning to fly. Making essential
observations from "the customer point of view,"
he dissects crucial industry issues and explains how each
of us can rejuvenate aviation.
Ravi
re-energizes the current industry and empowers his
audiences to inspire the next generation. In corporate settings,
he connects those who don't fly (and reconnects those who
do) with the magic of flight, improving employee moral and
productivity, team cohesiveness, and customer relations. At
aeronautical universities and schools, Ravi inspires students
to see beyond present day conditions and become agents of
changeultimately reassuring them of the value of their
education and investmentand teaches current and future
instructors how to improve the training experience and reduce
the 80% dropout rate. Amongst pilot groups, he motivates every
aviator to spread the dream and seed the next generation,
arming them with techniques that make aviation more accessible.
It's
about making aviation undeniably sexy, and in doing so, helping
the industry not just revive and survive, but thrive.
Some Take Aways:
- Cross-Marketing: Half of the pilot population plays a musical
instrument
- Student Retention: Why 80% of aeronautical students dropout
- Image: Showcase the future; why nostalgia doesn't work
- Cost: Rephrase pricing to accommodate a household budget
- Global: There is a world of opportunity for aviators

private pilot certificates issued over the past decade,
inspiring the younger generation now is critical.
Ravi effectively connects with them because of his exciting
story and youthful appeal. Moreover, his global flights
and picturesque experiences piloting over a dozen different
aircraft in his first 100 hours aloft demonstrates just
how accessible and instantly gratifying aviationone
of humanity's greatest achievementscan be.
In
this motivational, interactive, and fun presentation, The
Raviator tells his story about climbing to the top of
the music industry and how it mirrors his journey in learning
to fly. He shares highlights of his adventures on stage (the
White House with President Clinton, Madison Square Garden
with Aerosmith, Saturday Night Live with Jack Nicholson),
in the cockpit (aerobatics in a Stearman, landing a seaplane,
hovering a helicopter), and around the world (flying in France,
building schools for the poor in India). He makes aviation

Target
Audience: Pilots, flight attendants, airfield professionals Details: Breakout, 30 minutes (flexible) plus Q&A
and product demo Categories:

Ravi
has performed on stages at volumes that rival those of a jet
engine. Yet, throughout his experience as a musician and pilot,
he meets more hearing impaired pilots than rock and roll guitarists!
In this educational and entertaining session, Ravi uses differences
and similarities in his two passions to showcase the impact
on hearing and measures one must take to preserve this sense
vital to both activities. He exposes troubling research on
pilot hearing loss as well as the state-of-the-art technology
to prevent it. Ravi also offers simple measures one can take
in order to preserve safety in the cockpit and overall quality
of life as it relates to hearing, as well as offer demo of
the latest equipment and technology.
Some
Take Aways:
- Risk: Pilots lose their hearing at five times the rate of
the general public
- Quality of Life: Hearing loss simply isn't worth it
- Safety: Using available technology is being socially responsible
- Technology: State-of-the-art is the cheapest insurance money
can buy
- Knowledge: What really matters when it comes to choosing
